Velaris Depths | 2025

Velaris Depths is an original textured abstract painting inspired by the magical city of Velaris from the A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) book series. Part of my Depths Series, this Velaris inspired abstract painting brings my interpretation of the fictional City of Starlight to life through rich textures, deep colours and subtle touches of gold.

Inspired by one of my favourite book series, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a city built on rolling hills, surrounded by mountains and illuminated by the night sky.
Using my Depth technique, I built layers of acrylic paint and custom-mixed medium to create a textured surface where colours and details emerge differently depending on the light.
